Windows 10 Will Soon Let Users Block Desktop Apps From Installing

Windows 10 Will Soon Let Users Block Desktop Apps From Installing

Microsoft will soon roll out Windows 10 Creators Update. Insider Preview builds so far have given us a fairly good look at all the features and improvements one can expect once the final build rolls out. The latest Preview build 15042 now reveals that the company is testing out a feature for Windows 10 that will prevent users from installing Win32 apps.

The new feature seemingly hopes to phase out the older desktop apps in favour of apps from the Windows Store, apart from increasing security by blocking apps that may have come from unverified sources. Once the feature is enabled, users will be notified with a warning whenever they try to install a Win32 app. The warning message will read that apps from the Windows Store will help keep the PC "safe and reliable," according to a report by MSPoweruser.

The new feature is disabled by default and users can manually enable it by heading to the Apps and Feature category in Settings. The feature is available only for users of the latest Windows 10 Insider Preview build and it is yet to be confirmed whether it will make it to the Creators Update.

Microsoft is stressing on security and is trying to push users to download safer apps from the Windows Store. Understandably, the feature will prevent bloatware and malware caused from downloading older Win32 apps. However, this also means that users will not be able to install apps not listed on the Windows Store, like Adobe Photoshop and Google Chrome.

Notably, many Win32 apps can be found on the Windows Store, while the rest can be converted via Microsoft's Desktop App Converter.

Last week, Microsoft confirmed that the second major feature update announced for 2017 will be rolled out later this year.

These new Lenovo Yoga 720 and 520 convertibles are pricey, but with good reason

With all the most exciting MWC 2017 product announcements definitely in our rearview mirror, we’re finally able to take a (short) breath, and give some time in the limelight to a trio of convertible laptops that initially slipped through the cracks.

It was partly Lenovo’s own fault that we didn’t pay much attention to the versatile new Yoga 720 and 520 Windows 10 machines, as the Chinese smartphone and PC-making company flooded the trade show’s exhibition stands with the Moto G5, G5 Plus, an Alexa Moto Mod, affordable Miix 320 detachable, and no less than four Android-powered Tab 4 models.

Compared to all those, the 13 and 15-inch Lenovo Yoga 720, as well as the 14-inch Yoga 520, are way pricier and far less portable. Their keyboards don’t come off, but you can twist and turn them every which way to use in four different modes, including as (chunky) tablets of sorts.

Premium in both appearance and features, the flexible mobile computers are unusually lightweight and thin for their screen sizes, with the 13-inch Yoga 720 standing at 1.3 kg and 14.3 mm respectively, while the Yoga 520 14-incher only ups those numbers to 1.74 kg and 19.9 mm.

Despite such sleek designs, the two are technically capable of running for up to 9 and 10 hours on a single battery charge in Full HD. The Yoga 720 can always be configured with a 4K UHD display, and you also get Dolby Audio Premium-optimized JBL speakers for superior sound.

Your wish for “best-in-class” performance is granted by packing up to seventh-gen Intel Core i7 processors and even discrete NVIDIA GeForce GTX1050 graphics on the 15-inch Yoga 720. Both the 520 and 720 support an optional active pen for natural note-taking and sketching, with the latter integrating a fingerprint reader as standard, while the former also has the option to add one.

Lenovo Yoga 520 pricing starts at €599 in EMEA, which the 13 and 15-inch Yoga 720 obviously hike to €999 and €1,099 respectively. And that’s with entry-level specs, mind you.

SanDisk has launched its 256GB SanDisk Extreme microSDXC memory card at MWC 2017 in order to expand its portfolio of microSD cards compatible with A1 performance class. Apart from the microSD card, the company has also introduced its 256GB SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive and 256GB SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick at the industry-wide event in Barcelona.

Talking first about the A1 performance standard-compliant 256GB SanDisk Extreme microSDXC memory card, SanDisk says that the company is working with smartphone technology manufacturers to ensure that consumers are able to take full advantage of the recently-introduced A1 performance class with company's products.

"By specifically addressing app performance, A1 is a real game-changer for the industry. We are excited to play a significant role in the evolution of the microSD format, and work with the top smartphone technology manufacturers to offer more advanced storage solutions," Dinesh Bahal, vice president of product development at Client Solutions, Western Digital, was quoted as saying in company's release.

With the A1 performance class, company's 256GB SanDisk Extreme microSDXC memory card is able to manage random read input-output access per second (IOPS) of 1,500 and write IOPS of 500, the company said in its release. This helps the card in allowing users to open apps quickly and process accompanying tasks, such as audio, graphics, saved profiles, and in-app permissions.

The new SanDisk Extreme microSDXC card will be made available from late March and have been priced by the company at $200 (roughly Rs. 13,300).

sandisk flashd wireless stick story SanDisk Flashdrive Wireless StickThe company has also launched its 256GB SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive and 256GB SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick. The 256GB SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive comes with a Lightning connector and a USB 3.0 connector to help users transfer data between their iPhones or iPads and PC or Mac products. It features company's iXpand Drive app for iOS with an improved performance, as per company.

The new SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive allows users to automatically back up their camera roll, and content from social networking sites including Facebook and Instagram. The device further has encryption software that helps users protect their files across devices.

Further, users can now cast the content of their iXpand Flash Drive to their television from Chromecast or Amazon Fire directly from the app.

Finally coming to the 256GB SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick, the device comes with company's Connect app for iPhone and iPad to allow "effortless management of content between devices including iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac and PC," the company said in its release. It is capable of streaming music, videos, or HD content to three devices simultaneously with the Connect app.

It supports streaming to large displays via Airplay with Apple TV, the company said.

Both 256GB SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive and 256GB SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick are already available for purchase and have been priced by the company at $249.99 (roughly Rs. 16,700) each.

Gionee A1 and A1 Plus are ‘super selfie, super battery’ new Nougat smartphones

It’s pretty easy to get lost in a crowd of affluent, experienced, big-name tech companies at a jam-packed show like MWC when you’re barely successful on your Chinese home turf, but Gionee managed to smartly secure its 15 minutes of global fame by focusing on two popular features with the A1 and A1 Plus.

As expected, the Android 7.0 Nougat-powered phones unveiled earlier today in Barcelona are all about “super selfies.” But in keeping with tradition, the Gionee A1/A1 Plus 5.5/6-inch duo also aims to provide “super battery” life.

First things first though, let’s talk mind-boggling, eye-catching, face-complimenting front cameras. The plus-sized handheld amazingly sports a 20MP snapper on its façade, f/2.0 aperture included, which the smaller model downgrades to a still-great 16-megapixel sensor with the same f/2.0 opening.

Gionee hypes up many interesting-sounding add-ons and selfie-centric optimizations too, from a potentially gimmicky Bokeh Mode to a “customized selfie flash” meant to “spread light onto faces more evenly and softly”, and special beauty settings.

Moving on to the “super battery”, you’re promised enough juice to get you through the day and “beyond”, with humongous 4010 and 4550 mAh capacity respectively, as well as 18W ultrafast charge support.

You don’t need to sacrifice style either, seeing as how the A1 and A1 Plus are a surprisingly thin 8.5 and 9.1 mm respectively. The rest of the specs are somewhat of a mixed bag, with 13 + 5MP dual rear cams and Helio P25 processing power for the larger version, taken down a notch (or two) to a single 13-megapixel “main” shooter and Helio P10 SoC on the “regular” A1.

The A1 and A1 Plus further share Full HD screen resolution, blazing fast fingerprint recognition, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, Waves Audio-enhanced stereo speakers, and even IR remote functionality. Not too shabby for €349 and €499 prices across select “overseas markets”, obviously starting with India, where Gionee is most popular, as soon as next month.

Porsche Design Book One 13.3-Inch Windows 10 Pro 2-In-1 Unveiled

You may recall that Porsche Design teased an upcoming Windows 10 Pro 2-in-1 in June last year, and today the Porsche tablet was finally unveiled at the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain. Named Porsche Design Book One, this is a 13.3-inch Windows 10 Pro 2-in-1 tablet with detachable keyboard that will be launched in April. It actually resembles the Surface Book a little bit in design.

But it also continues where Surface Book stopped. By that I mean, the Porsche Design Book One has two USB 3.1 Type-C / Thunderbolt 3 ports.

Porsche Design Book One mains specs starts with the 13.3-inch screen with a QHD+ 3200 x 1800 resolution display, with Gorilla Glass 4. It’s powered by the latest 7th gen. 2.7 GHz – 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7-7500U “Kaby Lake” processor, with 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 512GB of SSD PCIe storage as standard. There are no configuration options.

Porsche Design Book One - Windows 10 Pro 2-In-1 Tablet

Porsche Design Book One – Windows 10 Pro 2-In-1 Tablet

It has 2 stereo speakers at 2 watt each, a 5MP front camera with an IR camera in addition for Windows Hello login, it has two additional USB 3.0 ports, obviously complete dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi cover, and Bluetooth 4.1.

The Porsche Design Book One battery life is a good 14 hours long, which comes from 25 Wh in the tablet, and another 45 Wh in the keyboard dock. And perhaps best of all, the whole thing charges fully in under 2 hours via USB C.

The country specific keyboard is a full-size keyboard with dimmable backlight and a Microsoft certified Precision Touchpad.

Porsche Design Book One tablet is 7.7 mm thick and weighs 758 grams, which is good for such a large powerful tablet. And since a lot of the emphasis is on design, the Porsche Design Book One housing is made of anodized aluminium.

Naturally a Windows 10 Pro tablet like this must have active digitizer support, so for that Porsche Design created the 2048 pressure level Book One Pen, a 12 gram stylus with a function key and delete key/eraser.

Porsche Design seem to have gone to some length to create the hinges too. So while this is a detachable tablet, the hinges of the docking makes it possible to revolve the tablet all the way round when you open it.

The price of the Porsche Design Book One actually isn’t that bad considering the specs, with a US price of $2495, and €2795 in Germany. It will be released in 17 countries in April, with these being Austria, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, the UK, Hong Kong, Italy, Kuwit, the Netherlands, Norway, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, UAE, and the US.

Innovative OPPO 5x dual camera zoom smartphone tech gets early MWC 2017 preview

While it may feel a little underwhelming to see a big-name MWC 2017 participant unveil a “groundbreaking” technology clearly not ready for primetime yet instead of an actual commercial product, this isn’t out of character as far as OPPO is concerned.

The new leader in domestic smartphone sales, as well as one of China’s top industry innovators, the company took some of its disrupting ambitions global at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last year with Super VOOC Flash Charge and SmartSensor Image Stabilization announcements.

Today, as promised, we’re treated to a 5x Zoom breakthrough. Specifically, an exclusive first glimpse of the world’s “first periscope-style” dual-camera solution. No words on when you might get this on a future… F-series device, or perhaps a Find 9 or even 10, but it sounds like it’s worth the wait, considerably raising the bar compared to modest and often bulky 2x zoom functions available in the market right now.

Developed behind the scenes for almost a year already, OPPO’s 5x Dual Camera Zoom implementation is definitely hard to wrap our heads around, but what it aims to do is pretty straightforward. Reduce module thickness to only 5.7mm, enabling a smooth, non-protruding design, all while offering cutting-edge 5x lossless zoom smartphone capabilities.

Wide-angle and telephoto lens execution have been completely overhauled, with the latter’s housing using an innovative periscope-style structure, deep zoom achieved by shifting its angle by 90 degrees, and “state-of-the-art” optical image stabilization ensuring snapshots are clear and crisp even at “full 5x zoom.”

Again, we’re talking complex engineering work here, covered by more than 50 patents for copyright infringement, but what we need to keep in mind is that true, professional and slim optical zoom smartphone cameras are one step closer to reality.

Lenovo Tab 4 10 Plus is also a thin Lenovo tablet at 7.1 mm in thickness and a weight of 475 grams. The Full HD screen has a display resolution of 1920 x 1200 with 70% color gamut, but 400 nits brightness. And it’s protected by Gorilla Glass 4. in addition, as you can see in the images, Lenovo has made a bumper case for it too, and an optional keyboard.

Lenovo Tab 4 10 Plus

Lenovo Tab 4 10 Plus

Color options are black or white, and the Lenovo Tab 4 10 Plus battery life is 13 hours long from the 7000 mAh battery. A full charge takes 4 hours.

This Android 7.0 tablet also has a 5MP front camera and 8MP rear camera, microSD card support up to 128GB, front-facing stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, and optional 4G LTE.

The launch price begins at €299 says Lenovo for the 3GB Wi-Fi model (TB-X704), so the price in the US should be around the same, while the Lenovo Tab 4 10 Plus release date is set to May globally.

Convertible PC craze catches on with Alcatel PLUS 12

When it comes to serving all the computing needs a consumer might have, TCL has screens of many sizes that can be sat on counters, pocketed and then taken for a ride. The Alcatel PLUS 12 seems to be of the latter nature.

As the name indicates, the convertible Windows 10 PC has a 12-inch display (well, if you round up from 11.6 inches) with full HD resolution. We’re not talking about a muscle device — it runs on a dual-core Intel Celeron N3350 — but it’s meant for instant connections with the LTE-enabled complementary keyboard. The keyboard, which has a dedicated Qualcomm modem, can hotspot its connection out to up to 15 dependents.

The tablet and keyboard can dock to each other through a reversible 7-pin port. Speaking of, there’s a USB-C port, full USB, micro HDMI and a 3.5mm headphone jack for I/O. The device has Windows Hello security through its fingerprint scanner.

Our embargoed materials don’t mention consumables information such as pricing, distribution and launch plans, but we’ll update the post once we have them. You can also check out our post on Alcatel’s trio of budget phones at MWC 2017.

Samsung Galaxy Book 12 Unveiled – New 12-Inch Windows 10 2-In-1 Tablet With S Pen And Intel Core i5 Processor

Samsung Galaxy Book 12” was announced by Samsung today at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Spain. This is the successor to the Samsung Galaxy TabPro S, and as such it is a 12-inch Windows 10 2-in-1 tablet with a new more powerful 7th gen. Intel Core i5 “Kaby Lake” processor, but also new refinements in other areas. It is the larger sibling of the Samsung Galaxy Book 10.6.

The 12-inch Samsung Galaxy Book 12 has a 2160 x 1440 resolution Super AMOLED display, and it is now powered by a full blown 7th generation 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5-7200U “Kaby Lake” processor. There are two Samsung Galaxy Book 12 versions, with a 4GB RAM version with 128GB of SSD storage, and an 8GB RAM version with 256GB of SSD storage. But both Samsung Book models supports microSD cards all the way up to 256GB.

Other Samsung Galaxy Book 12 specs includes a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera with 1920 x 1080 30fps Full HD video recording, two USB 3.1 Type-C ports, complete Wi-Fi cover with 2×2 MIMO 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.1. This is for the Wi-Fi version (SM-W720), but there’s also an optional 4G LTE at 300Mbps with the SM-W725, SM-W727, and SM-W728 versions.

Samsung Galaxy Book

Samsung Galaxy Book

The new Samsung Galaxy Book 12 features accelerometer, hall sensor, light sensor, GPS, and GLONASS for sensors. Samsung states that the weight is 754 grams, while the thickness is 7.4 mm.

The battery life of the predecessor was always great, and the Samsung Galaxy Book 12 battery life too is great too, where this 39.04W battery has a 10.5 hour battery life, with support for fast charging.

Samsung Galaxy Book 12 is sold as a 2-in-1 tablet, so the keyboard is included, and the S Pen too. The S Pen also adds some apps with it, like Samsung Notes, Air Command, and Samsung Flow. Samsung really went all the way with the pen, since this S Pen has 4096 pressure levels of sensitivity and doesn’t even need a battery to work.

Yuu can even tilt the pen, and the display will pick it up, although this feature is mostly limited to some Adobe apps to begin with.

I’m curious what the price will be, as Samsung says it will announce this later. The predecessor was launched for $899 in March last year, but that was with the Intel Core m3 processor. The new Samsung Galaxy Book 12 is powered by a more powerful and more expensive processor, not to mention that the tablet overall has more features than before.

One more thing from HMD: a modern Nokia 3310 with… a Snake

It felt like a joke. It still does, fresh off HMD Global’s eclectic, jam-packed, entertaining and occasionally weird MWC 2017 event in Barcelona. It wasn’t even a very funny joke, wrapping up the hour-or-so shindig after an awkward citation of a classic Steve Jobs product introduction line.

But that contemporary reimagining of the iconic and anecdotically unbreakable Nokia 3310 is real, including the ability to play… a snake. A modern take on the old Snake game, that is, which doesn’t look very different from the original.

In Arto Nummela’s own tongue-in-cheek words, the HMD CEO and a skilled team of former Nokia engineers decided to “have fun”, messing around with an industry icon until they devised a whole new design.

Stylish and colorful, the 2017 Nokia 3310, which is still dubbed simply… the Nokia 3310, promises to last a whopping 22 hours of continuous talk time between battery charges, as well as an entire month in standby.

It’s still a “dumb” phone by any standards, although it can clumsily surf the web on a pre-loaded Opera Mini browser. It also runs on Series 30+ software, sporting a tiny 2.4-inch QVGA (yeesh) display, 2MP camera, and microSD card slot. Unfortunately, there’s no “one more thing” to mention about durability, with the prettiness of the revised body making us wary of robustness compromises. On the bright side, at least it’s cheap, at 49 euros, rolling out sometime in Q2.

New 12-Inch HP Pro x2 612 G2 Launched Today – 7th gen. Intel Core And Intel Pentium 4410Y Options

HP announced the new version of the HP Pro x2 612 G2 today, a series of enterprise tablets that was first launched by HP in 2014, and have since been going through regular upgrades from time to time. And the new 2017 model HP Pro x2 612 G2 is a 12-inch Windows 10 Pro 2-in-1 tablet with choices of either the latest 7th gen. Intel Core m3, i5, or i7 processors from $979 or an Intel Pentium 4410Y processor from $1734. Both enterprise tablets are taking orders from today of.

These two tablets make a lot of sense if you want to integrate it with your business, but they are not so much intended as consumer tablets. RAM options are 4GB or 8GB of DDR3 RAM, with options of 128GB/256GB/512GB of SSD storage, which would drive the price up to $3200 already if you go for an i7 processor with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

The 12-inch screen has a 1920 x 1280 Full HD resolution, a 5MP FHD front camera, and a 8MP rear camera with flash, as well as backlit keyboard, USB 3.1 Type-C, a USB 3.0 port, active pen support, and it has kept the built-in kickstand like before.

HP Pro x2 612 G2

But as an enterprise tablet it’s really the HP Client Security Suite, the optional fingerprint reader on the back, the optional vPro, the NFC, and all of the other security features that enterprises like in computers, that makes this tablet different from consumer tablets.

The entry level models comes without cellular connectivity, but the more expensive ones have 4G included. And all versions have 2×2 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2.

As an enterprise tablet, it can be bought with optional rugged cases, backstraps, and retail stands. The cheapest consumer tablet in this cateogry, is the Acer Switch Alpha 12.

LG G6 sees daylight with 5.7-inch QHD+ screen, slim bezels, Google Assistant

The mobile world’s worst kept secret is now also officially out at MWC 2017 in Barcelona, and it’s… precisely what we expected. Far from visually similar to either the G5 or V20, the LG G6 sticks out first and foremost with crazy slim screen bezels.

Technically, that 5.7-inch diagonal sends it deep into phablet territory, yet an 80 percent (!!!) screen-to-body ratio purportedly helps it fit in a traditional 5.2-inch or so footprint. A “seamless” new design blends metal (for real this time) and glass, with durability-improving rounded corners, minimal company branding, and non-protruding dual rear-facing camera arrangement.

It’s not always about the number of megapixels, but it’s sure… interesting to see the G6 move from a 16/8MP main shooter combo to a pair of 13-megapixel sensors. On the front, you still get a 5MP selfie cam, complete with a wide-angle lens and F2.2 aperture.

Also “interesting” to note is not only the impressive 2880 x 1440 pixel resolution (QHD+) of that humongous “FullVision” display, but an 18:9, aka 2:1, aspect ratio aimed at offering a “more immersive experience when streaming videos and playing games.”

As suspected however, the LG G6 packs an aging Snapdragon 821 processor, paired with 4GB RAM, not to mention a similarly underwhelming 32GB internal storage as standard. You can still expand the local hoarding room through a microSD card slot, of course, despite the 3,300 mAh battery now sitting always in place.

LG had to make that compromise to achieve an IP68 standard for water and dust resistance, also promising dependability “when the going gets rough.” Pre-loaded with Android 7.1 Nougat, the G6 is the world’s first non-Pixel phone to let you interact with the Google Assistant out the box. It’ll be available in black and platinum soon for an as-yet unspecified price. But how soon is soon enough?

Is unlimited data a good idea for carriers?

There’s been this pendulum swinging back and forth for some time now. Unlimited data, data limits, unlimited data, data limits, etc. Now, we are swinging back to unlimited data, and it’s a good feeling, unless you’re on AT&T like me. Then it sucks. But in principle, it’s a good feeling. As a consumer, it gives you a certain amount of confidence that no matter what you do, you won’t get some stupid taxes or fees. You can give in to your screaming child and let them watch Octonauts in the back seat while you drive, or whatever. It’s freeing.

But from a corporate standpoint, there might be some sense there too. I mean, it’s a no-brainer to think that consumers will universally love unlimited data – but what about the carriers? Will Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint love offering unlimited data? Will AT&T, even if it’s a stupid plan? Ok, I’m going to stop harping on AT&T now. Probably.

“UNLIMITED powerrrrrrr!”

Happy customer ambassadors

On the one hand, unlimited data is nice for carriers because it’s going to offer a much better experience to its customers. Of course, it would be better for one carrier to offer it if the others weren’t. But from a customer standpoint, if they no longer have to analyze their data usage every month and have angst over data pools and rollover data, and all that other rigmarole, it will lend itself to a better experience overall.

Happy customers are one of the best advocates you can find for your service. Unlimited data is one less thing for people to worry about, so it will allow them to enjoy just being connected in the first place. Happy customers can focus on other aspects of the service, like coverage and customer service to help them rate a carrier. As long as the carrier doesn’t drop the ball in those arenas, they’ll be in good shape.

Safety net

Plus, unlimited data is a much easier sell, at higher rates. Sure, you can really get someone good with a massive overage charge if they fall asleep with Spotify on and forget to turn it off for 28 days. But when you have plans starting in the 50, 60, or 70 dollar range, that’s going to be a much more consistent income per customer, which is always good for the bottom line and investors. Metered data plans are designed to take advantage of customer mistakes, which is not a good business plan in general. Higher fees for everyone will balance out the small percentage of people that are going to go hardcore against the ones who will occasionally stream Star Trek on their commute home.

Plus, much streaming content is available offline now, so there’s no guarantee that data will be chewed up to the Netflixes and Amazons of the world. Yes, offline streaming alleviates concerns against data usage, but it also alleviates coverage concerns just in case I want to start watching a show on the train before we get to Western Avenue and I actually have bars again.

And yet…

But network congestion and maintenance are real concerns for the carriers. I’m not so sure throwing open the floodgates is a great strategy. After all, now that data has been taken off the table for customer worries, right in line behind that will be congestion and reliability. If your network offers unlimited data, but you can never get to the well, then what’s the point? Couldn’t this potentially turn into a free-for-all of data streaming? Even social networks like Twitter and Facebook are streaming sports games and events now. Unlimited data is going to put a major toll on networks.

And shouldn’t those who are using the most data pay for the most upkeep? It doesn’t make sense to level the playing field when you have me streaming The 100 every day on the train while my aunt barely knows how to turn the phone on. Why are we both being charged $70 per month? That doesn’t make sense. If people are going to use their mobile networks all the time, they should pay accordingly.

But that’s what we’re here to debate! Now keep in mind, this is being asked from a carrier perspective. Of course, consumers are going to love this. But should carriers offer unlimited data to make everyone happy, or are they unfairly taxing the light users to keep up with the heavy users? I’m not sure this is an easy question to answer, which is why the pendulum keeps swinging back and forth. But since we’re here, let’s put some thoughts down below to argue for or against it one way or another, and let’s see if we can figure this out.

10.8-Inch Windows 10 Tablet Jumper EZpad 6 M6 To Launch For $169 In March

A new 10.8-inch Windows 10 tablet by the name of Jumper EZpad 6 M6 will launch in March for under $169. Jumper have a history of doing things their own way with tablets, manufacturing tablets with different setups than what we would usually expect, and the Jumper EZpad 6 M6 is a little bit like that too: http://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_614281.html

The rare 10.8-inch sized screen has a traditional latop resolution of 1366 x 768. And despite the M6 name, it does not feature any Core m procesor, but an Intel Atom Z8350 processor instead. You might expect 4GB of RAM then, but Jumper surprised us with 2GB of RAM instead, together with 32GB of storage, and 128GB microSD card support.

This tablet actually has a full-size USB 3.0 port on the side of the tablet, a feature that usually doesn’t enter until a tablet has become 12 inches wide. But the thickness is still a very acceptable 9 mm, with a tablet weight of 640 grams.

10.8-Inch Windows Tablet

It also has a micro-USB port, a micro-HDMI port, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It has one 2MP camera on the front, a 6000 mAh battery that supports 3A charging, and Jumper says the tablet has a 4 hour battery life.

The tablet casing is made of aluminium, and for Internet connectivity it has 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi cover, and Bluetooth 4.0.

This Jumper tablet does not have a built-in kickstand like the Jumper EZpad 5SE does, instead it relies on the optional keyboard cover to double as a tablet stand. Although the keyboard isn’t in store yet.

“Mercury” antegrades into BlackBerry KEYone from TCL

About time turn the key on TCL’s newest phone and rocket off with the company’s newest brand.

The phone that’s been tossed around in rumors and leaks named “Mercury” that never actually existed under such a name at BlackBerry Mobile has emerged two days before MWC 2017 in Barcelona as the BlackBerry KEYone. If you’ve been looking for a phone with a sturdy keyboard and a small screen, this should fit your bill.

The hardware specs on this device are a unique bunch as you can see above. While the phone sits 9.4mm thick, amazingly, XY lengths are more comparable to other smartphones at 149.1 x 72.4mm. The letter buttons — sitting on the 35-key QWERTY grid sitting under the 3:2 display — can be utilized as tap or long-press shortcuts, just like as on the Priv. The spacebar also serves as the fingerprint sensor of the KEYone. Quick Charge 3.0 can take an empty battery up to halfway full in just over 36 minutes.

While the “BlackBerry” name’s on the KEYone, this is TCL’s first whole project with the Waterloo-based company. TCL acted as ODM in making the DTEK50 and DTEK60.

Still, don’t mistake this phone for an Alcatel device. As part of the DTEK security package, the bootstack is doubly protected and the processor is locked with security keys to make sure nothing takes control over a device, on or off. BlackBerry Hub enriches the base Android 7.1 experience with a merged messaging, notifications and inbox feed.

BlackBerry will be working to distribute the device starting in April for around €599, £499 or $549.

Just as an Easter egg, we’d like to acknowledge that the embargoed materials we received included a photoset of the device with filenames starting with “Merc” — it seems that somewhere along the line, the company has adopted the Mercury moniker in some internal capacity.

Third And Fourth Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Picture Leak Shows White Version With The AKG Logo

We are just two days away from the Samsung Galaxy press conference on February 26, and Technobuffalo have leaked a third Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 picture, 10 days after the first picture was leaked by WinFuture, while MySmartprice have leaked a fourth picture of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 from the side.

The only new thing in these press images other than what we have seen before in the certification leaks, is the “Tuned by AKG” imprint in a picture, because like we broke the news of on February 11, Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 features AKG speakers, and not just that, but 4 of them, making this a quad-audio tablet.

I expect these speakers to rotate according to the the way you are holding the tablet. Everything else about Samsung Tab S3 have pretty much leaked already.

One of the main questions was if the Wi-Fi version SM-T820 would be powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor as the 4G LTE SM-T825 and SM-T827 Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 would, but this question too was answered when I went through some new benchmarks, which showed that both the Wi-Fi model and the 4G LTE model(s) are powered by the same processor.

Specs like USB C, Quick Charge, the return of the LED flash, the S Pen inclusion, the keyboard, ane more, have long since been confirmed. The only specs that haven’t been confirmed, only been assumed by logic, is the 4K video recording support from the 12.9MP rear camera, and if the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 actually does have faster UFS 2.0 storage like I think it does. We will know for sure in less than 48 hours.
